This segment follows a low-level bureaucrat who secretly suffers from an inability to laugh. In a society where joy is mandated, he is hunted down by the "Tickle Police"—agents equipped with specialized, feather-tipped mechanical prosthetics.
is a long-form article exploring the lore, impact, and legacy of the cult comic series known as
The villain’s hand tickling the hero’s bare foot. The hero is grimacing but not laughing. Text bubble: “Last chance. Tell me the code, or I get… ruthless.”
While a formal academic essay on this specific series may not be widely available, the following analysis explores the themes and narrative structure typical of this genre: the ruthless tickling comic full
To understand the comic, you must first understand its namesake antagonist. Debuting in , The Ruthless was a departure from the standard "damsel-in-distress" tropes common in the niche [citation:4]. While the creators at TK Publications (and later Agency Publishing) had previously produced The Agencies , a series focused on espionage and super-spies, The Ruthless was designed to be darker, more sexual, and unapologetically sadistic [citation:4].

The landscape of digital illustration and webcomics is filled with various genres, including those that focus on physical comedy and slapstick humor. Among these, comics centered on persistent tickling scenarios have become a notable niche. These stories often emphasize over-the-top reactions and comedic situations. When users search for a "full" experience, they are typically looking for a complete narrative arc or a compiled collection of these humorous interactions. The Appeal of Physical Comedy in Comics

The horror of The Ruthless is high-tech. Over the course of the series, specifically toward Issue #4, the villain collaborates with the morally bankrupt to create the Neural Mapper [citation:1].
Unlike traditional underground comics that feature disconnected visual tropes, The Ruthless is built around sustained narrative arcs and persistent worldbuilding. The broader universe is managed via community worldbuilding platforms like Agency Publishing on World Anvil , which connects The Ruthless to sister series like The Agencies , The Cyriaan Chronicles , and Yelena .
The character possesses a suit of armor (or in later iterations, a horrific device called the "Neural Mapper") that allows him to find a victim’s specific ticklish spots and exploit them with mechanical precision [citation:1][citation:4].
From a technical perspective, The Ruthless has always prioritized high-quality illustration. The art team, notably (pencils/inks) and Sinister-Lurker (scripts), focuses heavily on anatomical expression [citation:2][citation:4].

It was back in 2008 when I got hold of a SONY newsletter announcing a new CCD sensor (ICX618) which promised fantastic sensitivity. Still working with an old webcam those days I instantly had the idea of replacing the webcam sensor with the new SONY sensor. It took weeks and dozens of emails to get the confidential spec of the new sensor. When I saw the sensitivity values it was clear: I had to have this sensor! The Basler Scout scA640 was the first machine vision camera on the market using this sensor and when I bought it the nightmare began: the included software was useless for planetary imaging and running the camera with the VRecord webcam tool was a complete PITA. Bugged by the inability to store even the basic camera settings I decided developing my own capture software.
What started as a solely private project soon turned into higher gear when fellow astronomers saw the software and insisted on getting it. I decided to make it public, included new camera interfaces and after years of continuous development FireCapture has evolved to one of the leading planetary capture tools. Developing the thing is only one part of the story: with a supportive community of users behind me I always had the feeling of someone 'looking over my shoulder' during the countless hours of programming. I can't mention all but just want to say:
Thank you guys !
