The boys must navigate this harsh new world, team up with their 2nd Dimension resistance counterparts, and ultimately return home before the evil Doofenshmirtz invades their dimension.

Following the incredible success of the Disney Channel animated series, fans were treated to an epic television movie event with Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension . To expand on the movie's story and give fans a more interactive experience, Disney Interactive Studios released a multi-platform video game. Released on August 2, 2011, for the Nintendo DS, this was the first multi-platform game in the Phineas and Ferb series. While the movie deals with Phineas and Ferb learning their pet platypus, Perry, is a secret agent, the video game explores what happens after their journey back home, putting players in control of their favorite characters through a brand-new adventure filled with platforming, puzzles, and plenty of cartoon action.

As Phineas and Ferb navigate through the parallel universes, they encounter alternate versions of themselves, Candace, and other familiar characters. They meet Phineas-2, a punk-rock version of Phineas, and Ferb-2, a quiet and reserved version of Ferb. They also encounter Candace-2, a punk-rock version of Candace who is actually a rock star.

Once built, these gadgets change the level geometry. The Magnet Boots let you walk on metal ceilings (reorienting the camera upside down), while the Shrink Ray (a film callback) reduces your character to mouse-size to navigate toy cars and dresser drawers. As per usual, Phineas and Ferb decide to build an epic contraption: a "Platy-pult," a giant catapult designed to launch them through the air in a massive shuttlecock. Meanwhile, Perry, unbeknownst to his owners, assumes his secret identity as Agent P and is dispatched by Major Monogram to stop Dr. Doofenshmirtz, who has built an "Otherdimensionator" to travel to another reality. The boys' flight path collides with Perry's rocket car, causing them all to crash into Doofenshmirtz’s lab and destroy his machine. Ever the helpful inventors, Phineas and Ferb offer to fix it. When they do, the device activates, sucking the quartet—the boys, their sister Candace, the bumbling Doof, and Agent P—into a portal to an alternate reality, the 2nd Dimension.
